You were talking about suicide and you have spoken on this many times. I have had some dark moments when the voices in my head said “get out” and I came very close. It’s funny how our guardian angels can even use those that hurt us to catch our attention before going through with it. Anyway, I do have a question about this subject maybe sometime you can touch on. What if the voices are telling you to make the pain go away. You aren’t one to commit suicide but you start acting recklessly and that leads to your death. Or maybe you start drinking heavily or using drugs and that leads to death. Would this be considered suicide. It’s not a conscious decision like using a knife or gun, but now days everyone knows the outcome of it… I was just curious as to your thoughts.
Sorry for the delayed response, Elizabeth!
With respect to your question, sin is in the intent, so if your intent was to take drugs to kill yourself or drink to “end the pain”, then yes, that would count as suicide. If there’s any element of “ending it”, “ending the pain”, or “making it stop”, then there is intent which makes it count.
Hope this was helpful, and we apologize again for the delay!
